Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, overlooked by the majestic Southern Alps, the town was named for Queen Victoria.
Queenstown is the undisputed adventure capital of New Zealand – bungy jumping began here – and was the film location for Lord of the Rings trilogy of movies.
Queenstown feels like a ski resort town, but it is a year-round destination for outdoor activities, fine wines and dining, gold mining ghost town tours,and excursions to the Milford Sound and Fiordland National Park.
