Mt. Hutt in Southern Alps is Snow Magnet

In the central Canterbury Region town of Methven stands the Mt. Hutt Ski Field – a snow-white gem in the Southern Alps range. It generally has the longest season in the country – usually May to October, but sometimes it can run into November – during which it gets 400 cm of snowfall. Mt. Hutt is one of the largest ski areas in NZ, with plenty of runs for all skier/rider types.

At the base of the mountain is the village of Methven which offers a unique experience of apres ski bars blended with the charm of a high country rural town. Apres ski activities in this town are relaxed and fun with plenty of excellent restaurants, bars, friendly local pubs and entertainment.
