Braemar on Parliament Street B&B in inner city Auckland is unique on many levels; it’s historic, charming, eco friendly and gay welcoming.
It’s the only late Victorian townhouse in the Auckland CBD still used as a residence. Built in 1901, it has been lovingly restored with the addition of up-to-the-minute technology for comfort and convenience.
The ground floor has a front parlour and a large lounge, both available for relaxation. Wireless broadband is available throughout the house, but if you want to go online and didn’t bring your own laptop, you can go wireless with the house computer. The dining-room where you come for breakfast is located on the lower ground floor.
The guest rooms are upstairs, tastefully furnished with a mixture of the old and new. The Batten Suite, with ensuite bathroom and private TV lounge, and the Victorian room with an ensuite bath and toilet, both have open fireplaces. The Norman and Jenny rooms share a bathroom and are often booked as one unit. All the bathrooms have old style large clawfoot baths which are superb for relaxation and pampering. All toiletries are complimentary – the finest NZ-made products.
It’s no wonder this Edwardian Heritage Home is high on the list of “Charming Places to Stay in New Zealand.”
